Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the involvement of world-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, in a fatal road traffic accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, near Makun area of Ogun State, which claimed the lives of two persons.
Confirming the incident in Abeokuta,the Police Public Relations Officer ,PPRO Mr. Oluseyi Babaseyi said the accident occurred when a Lexus Jeep, reportedly conveying the boxer, collided with a stationary truck near the Danco Filling Station axis of the expressway
Mr. Babaseyi disclosed that Anthony Joshua was rescued from the wreckage by emergency responders and sustained minor injuries, adding that he is currently receiving medical attention.
He noted that the collision resulted in the instant death of two occupants at the scene, adding that the vehicle involved in the crash was a Lexus Jeep bearing the registration number KRD 850 HN.
The police spokesperson noted that investigations have commenced to ascertain the exact cause of the crash, while assuring that further details would be made available as developments unfold.
